Olmos

Best known for being home to the threatened White-winged Guan, there are lots of other birds to see here as well. While searching for the guan, other possibilities include Henna-hooded Foliage-gleaner, White-tailed Jay, Tumbes Tyrant and Guayaquil Woodpecker. There is also good desert near the canyons where these birds live where we may find Tumbes Sparrow and Parrot-billed Seedeater.

Connecting Sites
This area can be reached in a long day from Lima, while nice hotels can be found in nearby Huánuco or Tingo Maria. Note that it may not be safe to be in the area during the night; ask locally about the current situation. Bosque Unchog is also nearby and can be reached in less than a day.
