Nueva Salen - Puerto Imazita in Amazonas

A remote and poorly known area, this is home to one of Peru's best birds, the Orange-throated Tanager. This stunning bird is fairly readily found in the right area, and there is a lot more to see in the area. Among the mouth-watering possibilities are Ecuadorian Cacique, Blackish Pewee, Chestnut-crowned Becard, Fiery-throated Fruiteater, Black Bushbird and Golden-headed Manakin.

Connecting Sites
This is a "one-road-in-and-out" site, so is always visited as a detour from a North Peru trip. The nearest sites are a full-day's drive away - Jaen-Bagua and Pomacochas.
